  • Has conducted business domestically and internationally for over four decades, including contracting, negotiating, marketing, legal, dispute resolution and insurance placement activities.

  • Venues of international business activities include Abu Dhabi, Australia, Bahrain, Bermuda, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dubai, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Libya, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Norway, Panama, Oman, Qatar, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad, UK and Venezuela.

  • Managed Ensco Legal Department composed of four attorneys, one paralegal and support staff with 2011 budget responsibility of $5.9 million. Prior to joining Ensco, managed attorneys supporting corporate, drilling, E&P, constriction and engineering activities while serving as Santa Fe General Counsel.

  • Participated in virtually all facets of drilling contracts addressing domestic and international operations involving land and platform rigs, tender rigs, drilling barges, jackups, semi-submersibles and drillships. Experience includes traditional daywork, footage, modified footage (a combination of footage and daywork), turnkey and various other forms of incentive contracts, as well as strategic alliances and rig sharing agreements.

  • Professional experience extends beyond drilling and oil service contracts and includes offshore construction, pipelay, vessel charters and shipyard contracts. Experienced in representing both contractors and E&P companies in many significant transactions from a commercial and legal perspective.

  • Chaired head office crisis response team and managed contractual and legal aspects of several significant events including regime changes and total loss of land and offfshore rigs due to blowouts or hurricanes.

  • Had primary responsibility for legal aspects of significant transactions including multi-billion dollar mergers and acquisitions; managed major negotiations, contract disputes, arbitrations and litigation.

  • Was responsible for corporate governance and legal compliance with SEC, NYSE and UK requirements.

  • Managed complex legal entity structure in coordination with tax and finance personnel, including major corporate redomestications from Delaware to the Cayman Islands (Santa Fe) and from Delaware to the UK (Ensco).

  • Participated in Ensco and Santa Fe Board and Board committee meetings as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for nearly two decades.

  • Involved in annual ($20MM+) insurance placement, claims resolution and administration of corporate risk management program.

  • Has published extensively and has been a speaker at numerous oil & gas industry conferences.

  • Has conducted in-house and commercial training programs on a global basis.

  • Served on Boards of Directors of publicly traded and private companies.

  • Appointed as an arbitrator in London ICC arbitration and served as mediator in a major dispute between drilling contractor and service provider.
